Northwest Center featured in CDOT’s Chicago Traffic Crashes 2024 Annual Report
Northwest Center is pleased to share its feature in a recent report highlighting successful efforts to reduce transportation accidents on Chicago's Northwest Side, specifically in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood. Recognized as a high-crash area facing economic and mobility challenges, Belmont Cragin was a key focus of the Chicago Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) Vision Zero Action Plan. In collaboration with community groups like Northwest Center, CDOT implemented a series of infrastructure improvements, including raised crosswalks, bike lanes, and traffic-calming measures to increase street safety and mobility. These efforts have led to a significant decrease in pedestrian and cyclist injuries and fatalities while increasing cycling trips, showcasing the positive impact of community-focused transportation initiatives.
